HAD THE CHANCE A FEW WEEKS BACK AT THE PLEASANTON FLY FISHING SHOW TO WORK IN THE HARDY BOOTH. WOW, ARE THESE RODS THAT HARDY MAKE SOMETHING SPECIAL. THE ZEPHRUS BY FAR IS MY FAVORITE ROD AND IT ALMOST CASTS ITSELF. ITS NOT REALLY FAIR BUT SO GLAD TO BE ABLE TO HAVE THESE RODS, ZEPHRUS, WRAITH AND THE FENWICK RODS, WORLD CLASS, AETOS AND THE NEW HARDY GLASS IN MY ARSENAL NOW AND MOVING FORWARD INTO THE FUTURE.

DOUG OUELLETTE, PURE FISHING HARDY/FENWICK TEAM MEMBER AND I WERE ABLE TO TAKE THE PURE FISHING HARDY/FENWICK TEAM OVER TO PYRAMID LAKE AFTER THE SHOW AND FISH TOGETHER FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS.   IT WAS A BLAST WITH EVERYONE CATCHING FISH THE FIRST AFTERNOON AND THE WHOLE DAY ON TUESDAY!

I WAS ABLE TO FISH THE NEW FENWICK AETOS FLY RODS WHICH WERE EXTREMLY IMPRESSIVE.   WE WERE THROWING 300 TO 400 GRAIN SHOOTING HEADS WITH THESE 9FT 8WTS AND THESE AETOS RODS THROW THE SHOOTING HEAD JUST LIKE A ROCKET!   THESE RODS WERE OUTFITTED WITH THE NEW FLUEGER PATRIARCH REELS WHICH ARE FULLY SEALED DRAG SYSTEMS.   THESE RODS AND REELS HAVE BEEN SHOWCASED BY DOUG'S GUIDE SERVICE, WWW.PYRAMIDLAKEGUIDESERVICE.COM  AND FISHING THESE RODS AND REELS FROM FENWICK EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR THE ENTIRE SEASON AND HAS HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THE RODS OR REELS IN THE HARSH SALTWATER ENVIRONMENT THAT PYRAMID LAKE IS KNOWN FOR!   IF YOU WANT TO BE GUIDED BY THE BEST GUIDE SERVICE OUT ON THE BIG LAKE, GIVE DOUG A CALL!   (775) 722-2267

THE RODS I HAVE BEEN FISHING AND HIGHLY IMPRESSED WITH IS THE HARDY ZEPHRUS 9FT 9WT AWS, COUPLED WITH THE HARDY FORTUNA REEL 8/9 AND THIS REEL HAS A 7 POINT FULLY SEALED DRAG SYSTEM, PERFECT FOR PYRAMID LAKE.   I WAS CASTING AND RETRIEVING A 385 GRAIN SHOOTING HEAD MADE BY RIO OUTBOUND WITH 15 POUND TIPPET.   MY LEADER SYSTEMS IS 5 FEET OF 15 POUND FROM THE SHOOITNG HEAD INTO A TAG KNOTT WITH DOUG'S  "ORIGNIAL" POPCORN BEATLE IN WHITE AND CHARTRUESE, THEN A 3 FOOT LEADER BACK FROM THE TAG KNOTT INTO A MIDNIGHT COWBOY SIZE 4.   IT AS A PRETTY EQUAL AMOUNT OF FISH GOING BACK AND FORTH ON THE BEATLE AND THE COWBOY BUT I WAS ABLE TO BRING AN 11 POUNDER TO THE NET ON THE BEATLE.  MONDAY I ENDED WITH 15 FISH TO THE NET AND TUESDAY OF FULL DAY ENDING AT 4PM ENDED UP WITH 30+ FISH.   WE FISHED THE NORTH NETS ON MONDAY AFTERNOON AND PELICAN THE FULL DAY ON TUESDAY!   ONE THING THAT SEEMED TO BE HAPPENING ON THE MIDGE BITE IS THE MIDGES IN SIZES 10 TO 12 WERE WORKING MUCH BETTER THAN MY LARGER MIDGES THAT ARE ABOUT AN INCH LONG OR BIGGER.

JUST SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT IN THE FUTURE!
